Congratulations to Hailey Szoke for earning her black belt on Friday 19th December. Hailey has achieved much since beginning training with Infinity Martial Arts on the Sunshine Coast. Her achievements include winning 4 Australian titles and 3 Pan-Pacific titles in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She also got a bronze medal at the World Championships for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This black belt is in the Freestyle Martial Arts system, which is a self-defence based style. She performed extremely well at the exam, in front of special guest examiners Geordie Lavers-McBain (6th dan) and Jessica Tolhurst (Probationary 3rd Dan). Both Hailey and Chad have trained extensively with these guys on the Gold Coast and were most appreciative of their presence. Congratulations Hailey for an well earned black belt - a special day that you will always remember.

Infinity Martial Arts ran a summer camp at the Currimundi studio on the Sunshine Coast. This was 14 hours of intensive training, both physically and technically over the weekend. We ran sessions on Self-Defence, Grappling, Weapons Defence, Sparring, Verbal De-escalation, Pre-fight Strategies and we concluded the weekend with a grading exam. All who graded did so extremely well, especially considering the amount of training they had done already in the weekend. Black tips, for best on the floor went to Shane Moore. Congratulations to all who attended.

I would like to congratulate two of our long-standing students for their efforts at the recent Pan-Pacific BJJ titles in Melbourne.
Both Duane Gordon (U67kg) and Patricia Schlon (U61kg) won their category for gi, and they both got a bronze medal in their no-gi category.
As you may be aware, the Pan-Pacific BJJ Championships are the biggest event for BJJ in Australia. There were over 500 competitors from many countries including Brazil, USA, Canada, Thailand, New Zealand, the UK and others.
This highlights the exceptionally consistent quality of our competitors - although only a relatively new club in the BJJ world, the Fight Club team from the Sunshine Coast always out-perform when taking all factors into consideration. Congratulations also to James Johnson and Aaron Brosnan who competed well in their divisions, I'm sure the experience from this competition will be invaluable in the future.

Alex Breckell
Madeline Kelly
